  • A “Pug Mill”

Clay reclamation is a tiresome and tedious process. Every year hundreds of pounds of dried out or “spent” clay is tossed out because it is just so much work to do by hand. The pug mill allows you to toss in scraps of unusable clay, it adds hydration back in and, the industrial mixer works, it back into usable clay in minutes. This machine will eliminate waste and cut down on the amount of clay the school needs to purchase every year. Most importantly it quickly puts clay where it really needs to be, in the hands of the kids.

  • A Yamaha upright piano

Music is beautiful and a powerful tool. Spotlight Music and Theater Academy is passing the joy of music and theater on to the next generation. In addition to private lessons, group classes, camps and workshops, Spotlight also produces 2-3 musicals each year primarily focused on youth, teen, and young adult actors. They currently have over 200 private-lesson students all of whom will benefit from this instrument.

  • Funding for the Scituate Highschool G.S.A Club

The Gay Strate Alliance Club is a close-knit community of creative, musical, artsy and drama club kids. In addition to events during pride month in June, they hold open mike nights throughout the year and let kids express themselves in any way they like, from skits and comedy performances to music. This grant will go to creating more opportunities for kids to get together and express themselves openly.

  • Gates Middle School Permanent Art Exhibit

As part Gates efforts to foster a creative and supportive learning environment, the middle school wanted to find a way to permanently showcase student artwork. The desire was to not only highlight students’ talents but also strengthen the school’s sense of community and pride. We will be ensuring that the students' hard work is honored and appreciated in a professional, lasting way by having it framed. Displaying their creations throughout the school will not only inspire the artists themselves but will also encourage their peers to explore their own creative potential. The hope of the staff and administration is that the presence of these art pieces will serve as a constant reminder of the value of creativity, expression, and diversity.
